THE ADULT HOPE TEST

Unlike many internet-based “psychological tests”, the following test has been carefully designed, using advanced statistical procedures. However, to fully appreciate the meaning of your individual scores, you may find it helpful to review the sections of this website that deal with the particular aspects of hope under consideration. For example, to better understand your mastery-related scores, you might want to review the webpage on mastery, to gain a better sense of your survival-related scores, you might want to read the survival page, and so forth. To secure the most hope, stay tuned for our forthcoming book, Hope in the Age of Anxiety.

The test is divided into two sections. Part A (40 questions) will provide you with a measure of your current or state hope level. There are 10 sub-scales (separate scores) that you will have access to after taking this part of the test. Part B (56 questions) is designed to assess your long-term capacity for hopefulness, your level of trait hope. There are 14 sub-scales (separate scores) that you will have access to after taking this part of the test. Part B is recommended for those who wish a more detailed hope assessment.

THE FOUR TEMPERAMENTS TEST

The Interactive “Open Four Temperaments Scales”  was developed from an idea that traces back to the Ancient Greek medical theory that there were four fundamental bodily humours (blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm) and that illness was caused by an imbalance in these. The terms sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic were coined by the Greek physician Aelius Galenus to describe the effect of the humours on personality.

MEYERS-BRIGGS PERSONALITY TYPE ALTERNATIVE TEST

This is an interactive version of the Open Extended Jungian Type Scales 1.2, an alternative to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI)  The MBTI classified people into 16 different types on the basis of four dichotomies: Introversion-Extroversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling, and Judging-Perceiving. The first three were adapted from Jung and the last developed by Myers-Briggs. So, for example, a person could be Extroverted-Sensing-Feeling-Perceiving (ESFP) or Introverted-iNtuiting-Thinking-Judging (INTJ). The Myers-Briggs types are the most popular pop-psych system. The Open Extended Jungian Type Scales was developed as an open source alternative to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. A statistical comparison of the OEJTS with three other on-line MBTI alternatives found that the OEJTS was the most accurate. This test has 60 items in two sections. It should take most people about 5-7 minutes.    You can also take this test on this link and get a ton of good info as well.  GET ALL THE POSSIBLE MATCHES AND WHAT THEY MEAN HERE

ROSENBERG SELF ESTEEM SCALE

Because the concept of self esteem is one most people should be familiar with, this test will probably not tell you anything you do not already know. You should have a pretty good grasp of your results just by asking yourself the question, “do I have low self esteem?” The scale can however give you a better picture of your state in relation to other people. Your results will also include a little bit more about the relationship between self esteem and life outcomes. This scale is the most widely used measure of self esteem for research purposes but it is NOT a diagnostic aid for any for any psychological issues of states. If you are worried that your self esteem may reflect poor mental health please consult your doctor.
