STEP 2- Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

THE PROBLEM

All stress is fear based. We are afraid of what will happen. We are afraid of how we or someone else will act or react to whatever is going on. We worry about our jobs, our families, our health, our finances, our pasts and the consequences of ours or someone else’s behavior to name a few stressors. Our minds go and go and go in a frenzy of what if’s and if only’s and the coulda, shoulda, woulda’s.  To strive is defined in the Merriam Dictionary as “to devote serious energy or effort” or to “struggle in opposition” To “rest” is a is a verb…an action word that means we have to do something deliberately and it starts in our minds with a decision to let go and let God. Only then can we feel a sense of peace and only then can we actually STOP our mental and physical busyness to surrender our concerns to a God who is waiting to take our burdens and give us rest. Have we ceased striving so God can restore us to sanity?

THE PROMISE- Psalm 46:10 a “Be still (cease striving) and know that I am God!

THE PRAYER

Dear God I know that you have promised me and proven to me in many places and at many times that you can be trusted. I have always had what I needed. Not always what I wanted but so much of my lack of the “abundant life” you promised in John 10:10 is about me not trusting you and doing what you tell me to do. Help me today Lord to be still and trust you to lead me in the way I should go. Help me to listen to your direction and then give me the power to carry that out.

SPEAK TO ME GOD, I AM LISTENING!

My child, I am a loving and patient God who continues to wait for you to stop long enough that I might pick you up and carry you to the destination that I have chosen for you but you continue to scurry around in your own thoughts and plans. Please stop now and let me direct your path so you can be a witness and testimony of the peace that passes all understanding, that my creation might know that I am the God who is able to do abundantly beyond what you could ever think or hope was possible. I love you and have your best interest in my heart, please trust me with your life.

MY RESPONSE

I never cease to be amazed at the timing of Your Word and how You speak it to my need! Today I will trust you because “I came to believe” that I could!
