It has been many years in the making but it is here. My journey through substance abuse and mental illness has culminated into a 365 page meditation book for anyone struggling with anything and wished they could hear God answer their questions, concerns and prayers.

Because I have ADHD quite severely, being still and listening to anyone has always been hard because my mind is constantly going. This world has become so busy that it is very difficult to stop long enough to hear a voice coming from someone you can’t even see and are not sure you have ever really heard before.

God speaks to us in different ways, through different means and at different times. Sometimes He is silent because we just may not be ready or willing to hear what He has to say anyway. If we don’t want the answer, what is the point of posing the question “God what do you want me to do>”

This book is different than any other meditation book I have seen which is why I wrote it the way I did. It begins with my problem that I know others go through as well. I then list a scripture that has meaning to me and then I pray for direction and listen to what God says in response. I close with my prayer of commitment to do what God has said. It was a remarkable experience that I believe all of us can experience.

Addictions go deep. They’re not simply behavior choices. Rather, they’re a result of our identity—the way we see ourselves. In Speak to Me God I’m Listening, Linda shares her conversations with God that bring about renewed hope and fresh faith. Be ready to see yourself with new eyes and get unstuck in the process.

Linda Larson Schlitz is a woman of God who has experienced what she is writing about. Her walk with the Lord has had its trials and difficulties, but she has persevered to a place of personal victory. Her Speak to Me God I’m Listening, devotions reflect a life that has been touched and molded by God’s hand. They are a wonderful encouragement to people whose hearts are hurting from the emotional pain they have accumulated by their problems and trials. They are also an encouragement to all of us as we struggle with a world that presses against the truth of God’s Word as we seek to live it. Her experience, understanding, and compassion bring reality to her words

God has used the powerful meditations in Linda Larson Schlitz’s book Speak to Me God I’m Listening, to bring me to a profound place of peace, conviction, clarity, and hope. Each meditation is packed with layers of Truth that God is using to heal my grieving heart. I recently had to place my husband in a Memory Care facility, and I desperately needed Him to speak to me as I walked this unexpected faith journey. Over and over, I am drawn to Him and His Word through the words and prayers in this book. I have never found a meditation book like this one, and I am so thankful Linda not only listened to the Lord when He spoke to her, but she wrote down these words to bless others in their walk with Jesus.

Linda, I had the opportunity to read your book, Speak to Me God I’m Listening. I think your personal experience with God, and the times that you have had with him clearly are communicated in your writing. I also love how you communicate that you are helpless before Him and that you cannot do this life on your own. I see in your writing a real genuineness and realism.

I, too, believe that God speaks to us. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice and follow me. I know my sheep, and they know me.” Sheep hear His voice because they belong to Him. We know that God speaks to us because it’s not something we can really even think of. The words that He says deep in our souls bring life to our being. One of the things to bring credibility to anything that you believe God says is to write down Bible verses that correspond to what you believe He said. God will never contradict His word. God speaks to us through it and also through His Holy Spirit and still can speak to us through others. This is a really great piece that you have written, and I pray that it helps many to meet, know, and follow Jesus.

Linda, thank you so much for writing Speak to Me God I’m Listening, meditation book! I look forward each day to reading your meditations. I consider myself a pessimist, and these readings allow me to see things in a positive light. When I am feeling down, I read them, and they bring my spirits up. I would love for these meditations to be put into a book because I would be able to read more than one a day, and I could read my favorites over and over.

Linda, please put me down for a copy of Speak to Me God I’m Listening, book of meditations when it comes out. I am thinking of giving up my computer and email account, as I would rather read a book. I now read your meditations daily, and I love every word. They combine 3 of my current readings and do a much better job of including recovery information. It;s far better to hear from someone who has been where I have, and understands how I think. Keep up the good work.

I have used many different meditation books over the last 23 years, and I find yours to really hit the mark. I am in recovery, and your daily meditations cover the steps and also the relationship with God that is so needed by all of us. Finding a book that does both has become a valuable tool for me and for several other people that I know who have signed up to receive the meditations. Thank you so much, and I look forward to having Speak to Me God I’m Listening, meditations for an entire year in a book for us.

The day I received Linda’s first meditation, I was instantly drawn to her focus on the spiritual program of recovery that was missing in my work as a recovery coach and peer specialist. These meditations fill that spiritual void, providing an invaluable tool to practice prayer and meditation on a daily basis.

As a person in recovery, Linda’s voice personified the truth about myself and has deepened my own spiritual reflection of God’s Word. I like to stay focused on the 12-step process of recovery when working with others, but Linda’s meditations keep my sights on Christ and help others build a deeper relationship with Him. Her practical and realistic examples illustrate how relevant this is for anyone navigating along in their recovery process.

Linda provides the HOPE I want to share with the people I coach and sponsor by showing that we can escape the bondage of addiction if we seek out and listen to God speaking to us. I am looking forward to adding Speak to Me God I’m Listening, to my toolbox of resources and will highly recommend it to everyone I know that is still suffering from an addiction. Thank you Linda!!
